Obtained his B.Tech in Mining Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in 1966 and M.Tech. in Mineral Engineering also from the same Institute in 1969. In the year 1975, he was selected for Government of India scholarship for his Dr. Ing. in Mineral processing at Technical University, Freiberg, Germany He obtained his Dr. Ing degree from Technical University, Freiberg (Germany) in the year 1979. On the basis of his research work in Germany, a process was developed and patented for flotation of cassiterite mineral ores with the help of carbonic acids as collectors and chelating reagents as depressants for calcium fluoride. The Technical University awarded him for his outstanding research work.

He worked as plant In-charge at Panna Diamond Mining Project, of National Mineral Development Corporation for two years. He was responsible for efficient operation of sampling plant for sampling of diamondiferous volcanic rock.

He Joined as Assistant professor in Mining Engineering Department, M.B.M. Engineering College Jodhpur in 1971. He served as a UGC visiting professor for one year at the University of Jodhpur. He has also served as faculty member in various universities abroad such as University of Zambia , Lusaka as a Sr. Lecturer, Bright Star University of Technology, Libya as a visiting Professor, Mekelle University in Ethiopia as a Professor. He has taught several subjects in several countries. Dr. Singh has a total experience of about 40 years in his various capacities in teaching research and industry.
